Stories in this collection
include Opo The Dolphin, The Raindrop Who Became Becoming,
The Island of A Thousand Rains, The Quiet Camel, The Ghost
of Zager Mountain, Zero The Great Actor, all lending themselves
to illustration.
The lead story tells of Opo, a young dolphin that for all
his young life wonders who and what he really is, and what
he was created for. He believes that not all things have been
revealed to him by his parents or the rest of his universe.
The murky depths do have mysteries in them, and a dolphin's
life is not all that it seems.
The mysteries surrounding Opo come full cycle when he learns
that a dolphin's life is incomplete until he has saved a sailor
from drowning.
The Quiet Camel tells of a camel being delivered, from the
harshest of treatment, by a young Arab boy who faces up to
stern and severe punishment for being sensitive to the plight
of one camel.
The Ghost of Zager Mountain is an old, old story of pirates
and treasure being buried on the New England coast, and the
haunting escapade of an Indian maiden who sets a curse on
a pirate ship after her young brother is interred with buried
treasure.
The other stories have similar juvenile interest.
