This is
a collection of poems by Michael Lewis Moffett relating in
often-stunning and homely verse the compelling story of an
endless love for the girl the poet first knew at the tender
age of 16. They tell how the youngsters were separated and,
28 years later in moments of joy worth that separation, fatefully
reunited. Some of his poems agonize over the pains and lost
time endured in the great upheaval of their lives and others
leap with the joyful tidings of their rediscovery and return
to the love that was meant to be their destiny. Other poems,
in depth and passion, tell a story of faith in God and about
our relationship with nature surrounding all of us. In cries
shaking the reader, he despairs at the death of his younger
brother and recalls the warm and memorable childhood they
shared. The work is braced by poems about the frailty of life
and the innocence of children. Often it is a revel in humorous
poems bringing smiles to readers by taking them back to a
simpler time when warm and loving grandparents seemed to float
forever and indestructibly on the horizons of our younger
lives. This is a collection striking a chord in the heart
and soul of the reader.
