James A. Tennant was born and raised in western New York State through the WWII years. He is an Ivy League alumnus and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. A resident of Alaska since before statehood, his career began in broadcast engineering and ended in industrial electrical maintenance. While working as a municipal utility troubleshooter, he was involved in a political sex scandal and spent several years in prison. Now in retirement, Jim volunteers as a public radio engineer and seniors centers pianist. He lives on the Kenai Peninsula, south of Anchorage.
