Gary L. Palmer married
in 1968, the father of two sons. Abandoned in 1946 at age
six, raised in foster homes and a children's welfare home.
Served in the Navy (1958-1962) and was a member of the first
Task Force to South Vietnam, in December 1961. With the help
of a football scholarship and physically demanding summer
employment, earned a college degree from Ohio University in
1967. Had a published weekly how-to sports column for one
year in a daily Ohio newspaper. Was a teacher-coach for fifteen-years.
Presently employed in sales and management. His first book,
You're Here Aren't You? is a memoir about a struggle for survival.
