Nilah Curtis has self-published
two non-fiction works (Baby's First Steps, 1985; Talk Straight
and Survive, 1995), in addition to a newspaper series. See

Ms. Curtis is concerned about child welfare. She focuses on
parent-infant interactions during caregiving tasks to promote
positive mental development. She integrates the communication
skills offered by Tom Gordon and infant development concepts
of Magda Gerber and Hungarian pediatrician Emmi Pikler, among
others.
Ms. Curtis, a registered nurse and grandma, holds a Master's
degree (Boston University) and postgraduate certification
through Resources for Infant Educarers. She has consulted
for parents and day care providors.
